Meet Cookie and Hope, Our Sponsored Guide Dogs

Cookie and Hope – January to March

Cookie and Hope are two Guide dogs for the Blind that were sponsored as puppies By our Students in November 2019. Chosen by the students these two young puppies are being supported to be trained as a guide dog for a blind person.

Sponsoring a gorgeous guide dog puppy, and watching them grow from a six-week-old bundle of fur to a fully-qualified guide dog. Is a great way to support Guide Dogs, and every puppy’s journey is unique! After 24 months of training, our puppy’s  will give freedom and independence to someone with sight loss.

Why they need our support

  • Every hour, another person in the UK goes blind
  • 180,000 people with sight loss rarely leave home alone
  • Almost two million people in the UK are living with sight loss. By 2050, there could be nearly four million
  • They rely on donations to continue their life-changing work. Every pound raised makes a difference to people in the UK living with sight loss

Cookie standing on a beach

Cookie has been enjoying lots of new experiences over the past few months! One of the highlights was a beach trip to Hastings. Cookie had loads of fun chasing the waves and savouring the smells of the sea.

Hope walking through long grass

Hope’s adventurous personality has really begun to shine! She loves bounding around in the grass and exploring the trees and bushes. Hope has excellent recall and never runs far from her Puppy Walker, Helen.

Our sweet girl Cookie mastered travelling on public transport; she went on the bus multiple times! Cookie’s experiences on public transport will help safely guide her future owner with confidence

Hope enjoyed exploring new places with her Puppy Walker Helen. She previously visited a supermarket, a clothes store, a farm and a bakery – just to name a few!
